SEAN SUEN??
For Paris Digital Fashion Week, SUEN SUEN has debuted “Dionysian”, the brand’s Spring-Summer 21 collection which explores the dichotomy between the essence of human life and its conflicting internal emotions.?
The collection premiered with a short esoteric film capturing the tragic theme of an irrational state of intertwined pain and intoxicating revelry where souls wander in a state of oblivion disconnected from the self, mired in fantasy and dreams. Inspired by Nietzsche’s “The Birth of Tragedy”, SEAN SUEN invokes the spirit of Dionysius, the divine prodigal giver of sublime inspiration whose resurrection means Life stronger than death, as a symbol of humanity’s desire for Life and its eternal admiration for subsistence.?
The garments lend themselves to Ancient Greek traditions with a contemporary take on utility and design, revoking the designer’s desire to soothe and smooth the trauma caused by this disconnection between today’s social climate and human existence. Comfortable fabrics and a focus on the wearing experience are meant as a way to wean individual bondage, bridging differences between humans and paving the way to a more fulfilled existence — his desire to build a diverse, free and more viable value system.
Issey Miyaki Homme Plissè
It’s always exciting when fashion collaborates with other creative fields, and brands which manage to cross-pollinate successfully with artists, designers and more always produce the most interesting collections and content.?
The team at Issey Miyaki is one of them. Having produced films featuring which starred dancers, their latest perky film entitled “Meet Your New Self,” is a bright, fun, ode to the joy of having fun while dancing. Casual styles hanging on a clothes rack, swaying around bursting with energy beckon the models to wear the garments and join them in an inviting, jazzy performance.
Inspired by the brightness of the vibrant spirit of the architectural landscape buildings, the clothes are designed to be combined with casual accessories and sneakers.?
Characterized by bleached-effect prints and declined in a palette with fresh and saturated tones, through the video, Homme Plissé Issey Miyake demonstrated that its clothes are bright, fun, and comfortable enough for dancers and basketball players to exercise or move in.?
Dries Van Noten
Who misses concerts? Seems like Dries Van Noten surely does – and it shows. His Menswear Spring Summer video features a model fully engaged in a wild session of air-drumming.?
Botter?
Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh have built a brand on mutual support and love. A multicultural family standing in strength for unity and integrity using their creations as a weapon of peace.
And this season, the duo felt strongly about the political situation of the world: “creating this collection has been the hardest until now, trying to express our humble yet positive vision towards the black lives matter movement and other large issues we have been facing all together at once,” they explained in the video presentation on the Federation’s site. “We are standing against racism, ignorance and lack of empathy. We will overcome with our Family, where nobody is left behind,” they continued.
This was demonstrated through a reflection looking back at their Caribbean roots. As prints and shells adorned shirts, t-shirts and accessories, while pieced-together striped shirts, were worn over classically tailored trousers.
The slogan ‘Do You See Us Now’ presented in the past seasons on t-shirts and sweatshirts was reinterpreted and emblazoned on a series of white t-shirts and sweatshirts worn with tailored linen shorts.?
The designers also presented a digital cloakroom experience featuring a rendered version of one of their models. The digital cloakroom included a series of looks from the duo’s menswear spring-summer 2021 collection, ranging from loosely fitted jackets, sweats and patched denim.
